Grandma Speirs Would Be So Proud

I recently decided that I should probably work on getting Madison used to brushing her teeth after she eats so we don't have to fight over it when she does have teeth. I got her a toothbrush way back when I was still pregnant from the dentist office my mom works at. I thought it would take awhile to get Madison to even let me put it in her mouth but it wasn't a problem at all. She loved having her gums and tounge tickled. Now it's hard to get the toothbrush away from her at all if she gets ahold of it. Hopefully she will still be this excited about brushing her teeth when she gets some little teeth.

Madison's First Car

Madison got this fun car from Aunt Mackenzie at her baby shower, and now she's finally big enough to play with it! She likes being pushed up and down the hall on it, and it will be a great day when she can do that on her own.... it's not easier being the motor. She is really good at playing with the different parts and likes the noises they make. Thanks Aunt Mackenzie for my first car!

Happy Halloween

Grandma Murri found this really cute puppy dog costume and was nice enough to send it to us for Madison to wear for Halloween. Madison thought it was pretty funny when Alex and I were barking at her and pretending to be puppies too.

Pumpkin Carving

I was just dying to carve a pumpkin this year for Madison's first Halloween. I know she won't remember it or have any idea why we were doing it, but it was pretty fun. She really liked to touch the pumpkin and pat it with her hands. She also tried to use it to help her stand up.
And of course she liked playing with the huge spoon. She tried to get the whole thing in her mouth. I think she was hoping their would be some food on it.
Madison wasn't too sure about touching the pumpkin guts. She did end up eating some off the spoon I was using though.

She didn't last through the whole process so we took a break and got cleaned up. Madison is sporting a Grandpa Speirs hair-do.

The Candy Thief

It has been so long since I've had time to post anything on here. School has been really busy and now that midterms are over I have a few extra minutes. Madison is now almost 8 months old and has been working on learning to crawl. I put her on the floor the other day and this is what I caught her doing...

Our Little Sweetie

Could she get any cuter?

Madison has times when she is so happy and laughs at every little thing we do, and at times cries and cries. Good thing she's so cute when shes happy.

Back to School

School started for me a week ago and I've been taking classes on campus for the first time since Madison was born. It's been pretty busy taking 14 credits and taking care of a family, but it will be worth it when I graduate this summer. This semester I'm taking some fun classes that go towards my minor. I'm taking 3 sewing classes, a pattern making class, home decor sewing, and a clothing sewing class. I am also taking an Interior Design class and a Family History class, which I think will be a great class for me. I really am interesting in knowing how to do family history so I can work on my own. I feel such a strong spirit when I am in that class, I know that it is something I need to be doing in my life.

A few days ago Madison turned 6 months old! It's amazing how fast time flies. This is the day she came home from the hospital.

This is her six months later. What a big difference! My tiny baby isn't so tiny anymore!

Family Pictures

While we were in Meridian, Alex's wonderful sister Mackenzie took some family pictures for us. Madison was so cooperative and good for us!
This is the longest Madison had sat up by herself for. She sat there for a good five mintues while her picture was being taken.

Summer Vacation

This summer for vacation we went down to Meridian for a family reunion with Alex's family. All of his siblings were able to make it, so it was nice to see everyone together. One of the days we went to Roaring Springs. It was Madison's first time swimming so I didn't know how the day would go. We got her a cute little swimming suit and headed off to play.

Although she doesn't look too happy in this picture, she did really good in the water. She liked the little fountains of water that came out of the ground. It was really cute to watch her try to grab the water. Of course I didn't get out the camera until she was tired and done with this experience.

So tired after a long fun day at the water park.

Solids

We started Madison on solid foods when she was about five months. She wasn't too sure about them at first, but now seems to enjoy them quite a bit. She loves trying to help us feed her by grabbing the spoon when it gets near her mouth. She usually ends up with food in her hair, on the high chair, and on whoever is feeding her. It's a pain to clean up, but its cute to watch her grow and learn. She also loves to drink from her sippy cup, and from our water bottles and glasses too, which usually ends up getting us all pretty wet.

A Special New Toy

Our good friend Dave from Freshman Academy gave Madison his stuffed dog that he had when he was little. Dave even took it with him on his mission to Nicaragua. When he gave it to us he warned us that it needed washed since it went to Nicaragua with him, and it probably had parasites. This is how we came up with the dog's name, Parasite.
Thanks uncle Dave for the puppy, I love to play with him. -Madison

Sunday Afternoon

Everyone loves their Sunday afternoon naps. I don't think she could get any more comfy.

5 Months Old

Happy five months, Madison! Madison turned five months old yesterday, and I can't believe how fast she is growing. She loves smiling and laughing and trying to sit up by herself and roll over. She is such a happy girl and brings smiles to our faces everyday. It seems like just yesterday she came to join our little family.
We love you Madison!

Bikes

A few weeks ago Alex and I got new bikes and a seat for Madison to ride in. At first she wasn't to sure about riding bikes with us, but now she seems to enjoy it quite a bit. She likes seeing new things and being outside.

All ready to go!

It's pretty tiring riding around.

It's nice being able to spend time together as a family and enjoy the nice weather this summer.

A Busy Week

This week we've been pretty busy! Monday we watched Nikki and Steve's baby Ryker so they could go on a date for their second wedding anniversary. Alex was able to help me with the babies so they both got all the attention they needed and I wasn't stuck with two screaming babies.

I think Madison enjoyed having another little friend that was her size to play with. She loved just looking at Ryker and touching his hands. They both were so good for us!

Tuesday we drove to Pocatello to meet my parents so Sydney could come stay at our house. It was so nice to have her visit and keep Madison entertained. We went on bike rides, walks, blew bubbles and played at the park in our neighborhood.

Madison loved the swing at the park. The first time we took her she laughed and smiled the whole time, but of course I didn't have the camera with me. The next times we went she wasn't quite as excited as before, but still enjoyed it.

Mom and dad even got in on the fun playing on the teeter-totter.

Sydney also helped me finish painting Madison's crib. It's not the greatest paint job ever, but hey it's done and assembled thanks to Alex's hard work.

She seems pretty happy with her new bed. She looked so big in her last bed, but looks to tiny inside of her new bed!

We also went to Porter's and used their dye cut machine. Sydney really likes cutting out shapes on the paper. This time we found a really cute butterfly cut out, so we cut out a ton of butterflies and Sydney glued them together and decorated them.

We used them to decorate Madison's room. It ended up looking really cute!
